I am always interested in the topics that people select when writing a
research paper. There are many great ideas this summer. Below are some
topics from previous summers and this summer. Share with the class your
topic and describe why you selected to write you paper with that focus.
- Parental attitudes differentiation
- Student attitudes towards differentiation
- Appropriate differentiation strategies for elementary classrooms
- Appropriate differentiation strategies for the science classroom
- Differentiation and Universal Design: Is there a difference
- Using differentiation strategies to meet the needs of students with disabilities
- Teacher attitudes towards differentiation
- Professional development sessions' impact on teacher ability to implement differentiated instruction
- The role of tiered activities on student learning
- The pros and cons to using differentiated instruction to meet the needs of diverse populations in the general classroom
My topic is using WebQuests to differentiate instruction. I chose to research/write about this because of the growth in technology being used in schools. I think WebQuests are a great tool that can be used to help all students access the curriculum at their individual learning level.
ReplyDeleteAs I have progressed though this course I have learned a lot already about what differentiation is, and what it is not. There are many teachers in my current school that talk about how they differentiate in their classroom, but when we have had conversations about how differentiation is accomplished these veteran teachers just describe having several activities planned. They make no mention of skill or readiness of the student. My paper will focus on defining differentiation, describing the role of the teacher and student, and providing evidence on why it is important.
ReplyDeleteMy ultimate goal (whether it is achieved through the final product for this course, or from a rewrite afterwards) is to have this paper available as a resource for the teachers in my school who are interested in improving how they differentiate their classrooms. Hopefully it, along with a list of resources, might be able to start them on a path to more effective differentiation practices.
It would be remiss of me to say that I was not one of those teachers that I talked about in this post. It is through this course that I am gaining a better understanding of differentiation and am hoping to start small and implement it in the proper way this coming school year.
DeleteI chose to write about differentiation through learning inventories. Specifically MI. I differentiate in my classroom using interest inventories. Not only is this a great strategy for DI but students learn a great deal about themselves and their friends through this approach!
ReplyDeleteI have chosen to write about appropriate differentiation strategies for elementary classrooms. I will write about the aspects of differentiated instruciton ( learner centered, student choice, and proper curriculum planning). I will discuss why we should differentiate and how I think differentiation in my classroom will maximize the students success.
